The Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology (SSIoT) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the University of Chichester.

It marks a significant milestone in the SSIoT’s commitment to fostering wider collaboration and innovation in higher technical education.

The SSIoT is a collaboration between universities, further education colleges and industry partners across the Sussex and Surrey region, working together to provide students with education and training designed to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.

Led by Chichester College Group, it aims to harness the power of the universities, colleges and employers to develop industry-led courses which provide students with opportunities and experiences that ensure they gain the skills they need to thrive in their chosen careers.

The University of Chichester is a globally recognised higher education institution which is gold rated for teaching excellence (Teaching Excellence Framework 2023) across two campuses, including a flagship Tech Park – home to engineering, biomedical science and creative digital technologies departments.

Andrew Green, Chief Executive Officer at Chichester College Group, said: “We’re excited to welcome University of Chichester into the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology consortium.

“It represents our shared vision for excellence in education, and our commitment to providing opportunities for our communities across the region, ensuring our students our able to access an innovative and leading skills curriculum.

“It is a great example of education providers working together with employers, and the training we provide as a collective will have the power to change lives.”

Professor Jane Longmore, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chichester, added:  “We are delighted to become part of the Sussex and Surrey Institute of Technology.

“The university has a long-standing commitment to supporting educational opportunity across the region and will open new pathways for learners with degree apprenticeships in engineering, biomedical science and nursing.

“We fully embrace the need for local universities and colleges to work together with employers to generate economic prosperity for our communities.”

The SSIoT consortium was formed in 2021, originally comprised of Chichester College Group alongside University of Brighton, University of Sussex and North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) with University of Chichester the latest member.

It is supported by several industry partners, including Roche Diagnostics, Gatwick Airport, Southern Water, Wates Group, Irwin Mitchell, Pearson, Coast to Cpital, NatWest and Gatwick Diamond Business.
