Through the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology and the wider college, students have access to modern learning environments designed to prepare them for careers in engineering, construction and digital industries.
At the heart of this investment is the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology, working alongside the wider college to provide technical education that reflects the needs of modern industry. From engineering workshops, electrical installation workshops, digital learning spaces, Learning Factories, the Advanced Technology Centre, the STEM Centre, the Green Village and the new Construction Hub, students benefit from practical, hands-on learning supported by experienced staff and strong links with employers. Students also have access to robotics, automation systems, CAD/CAM, CNC technology, 3D printing, renewable technologies, electronics and hybrid vehicle technology.
The campus is also home to a growing range of innovative learning environments, including specialist media facilities, immersive teaching spaces, virtual reality technology, immersive Pods, collaborative project areas and the Green Village eco bungalow for retrofit training. These spaces create exciting opportunities for learning, training, presentations and events. Many spaces are available for hire by the public for meetings, training, presentations and events. Our fully immersive Pod, also available for hire, can transport visitors to almost anywhere, from a tropical beach to a manufacturing facility, or bring projects to life for your customers. It provides a unique environment for education, training, collaboration, entertainment and helping organisations share ideas in an engaging and memorable way.
The campus also offers a welcoming environment for students and visitors, with social and study spaces, a large café and facilities that support student wellbeing. Crawley College is close to the town centre, within easy reach of bus and rail services across the region, and has convenient nearby parking, making it easy to access for students, employers and visitors.
Learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. Students have opportunities to work with employers, take part in engineering clubs (which are open to schools from around the area and supported by professional engineer mentors), hear from industry speakers, visit workplaces and universities and so gain the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for the careers of tomorrow.
The college continues to strengthen its partnerships with employers across the region, including organisations connected with Manor Royal, London Gatwick and the wider engineering, construction and digital sectors. These relationships help ensure courses remain relevant, open doors to work experience and apprenticeships, and give students valuable insight into the industries they hope to join. They also support the Government’s Industrial Strategy by helping employers access the technical skills, talent and training needed for future growth.
