National bricklaying success highlights apprenticeship opportunities at Crawley College

National success at the Guild of Bricklayers Finals highlights the quality of bricklaying apprenticeships at Crawley College and the opportunities ava

Outstanding success at the Guild of Bricklayers competitions is showcasing the quality of bricklaying training at Crawley College and encouraging more employers to invest in the next generation of skilled construction professionals through apprenticeships.

Crawley College learners recently achieved multiple awards at the Guild of Bricklayers Southern Regional Final before one of the college’s apprentices went on to be crowned Women’s Senior Champion at the Guild of Bricklayers National Finals. The achievement reflects the dedication of the apprentice, fellow competitors and teaching staff, while demonstrating the high standard of training delivered at the college.

Bricklaying is one of several construction disciplines taught from Crawley College’s new Construction Hub, where learners benefit from modern workshops, industry-standard facilities and experienced teaching staff with extensive industry knowledge. Students develop practical skills in realistic working environments, preparing them for careers in construction while helping employers develop the skilled workforce they need.

Construction is also a key focus of the Sussex & Surrey Institute of Technology (SSIoT). Learners can progress from apprenticeships to higher technical qualifications, building the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to succeed in the construction industry.

For employers, recruiting a bricklaying apprentice is an opportunity to invest in both their business and the future of construction. Apprentices gain valuable workplace experience while studying towards nationally recognised qualifications, allowing employers to develop talent that meets the needs of their business.

Eligible employers may currently be able to access a £2,000 employer incentive, alongside other funding support, subject to eligibility. Additional support may also be available in some circumstances. Crawley College’s Apprenticeships Team can explain the current funding arrangements, discuss eligibility and support employers throughout the recruitment process.

Whether you’re ready to recruit or would simply like to find out more about bricklaying apprenticeships at Crawley College, we’d be pleased to discuss how we can support your business.
